Code-Compliant Fire Supply from Municipal Main
This is a highly specialized fire pump station designed to draw water directly from the municipal fire main while preventing negative pressure, thereby protecting the public fire supply network. It utilizes a dedicated, code-approved non-negative pressure buffer device and a separate, dedicated fire pump set (NFPA/UL/FM compliant) and controller.
Crucially, while it uses non-negative pressure technology, the primary fire code mandates that the pump must deliver the required flow and pressure. Therefore, this system is often used to augment the existing fire line pressure or for smaller systems where a large fire reserve tank is deemed impractical, subject to strict fire marshal approval.
Specification Table: Non-Negative Pressure Fire Station
| Function | Municipal Main Fire Pressure Augmentation (Non-Negative) |
| Pumps | NFPA/UL/FM Certified Fire Pump Set (Fixed Speed) |
| Control | UL Listed Fire Pump Controller + Dedicated Compensation Logic |
| Safety Feature | Guaranteed Minimum Suction Pressure on Fire Main |
| Hygienic Feature | Backflow Prevention on Connection |
| Application | Fire Sprinkler/Hydrant Systems (Low/Medium Hazard) |
| Compliance | NFPA 20 and Local Fire/Water Authority Approval (Crucial) |
| Configuration | Integrated Skid or Box Enclosure |
Application Fields
- Fire suppression systems for smaller commercial buildings in urban areas with high municipal fire flow capacity.
- Projects where land for a dedicated fire water tank is absolutely unavailable or cost-prohibitive.
- Fire boosting systems for the Domestic/Fire water tank where the fire line is used as the makeup or primary source.
- Retrofitting older buildings to improve fire flow/pressure without major civil works.
Engineering and Custom Fabrication
The design requires a detailed hydraulic study (fire flow analysis) to confirm that the municipal water service curve is sufficient to meet the pump demand at the required pressure.
Customization Scope: Specific flow and head curve matching to the required fire hazard, integration of remote monitoring (Intelligent Fire-fighting), and specialized anti-vibration mounting for sensitive urban substructures.
We provide all necessary performance test data to support the client's application for local fire authority approval.
